As promised I am here to do a review of a foundation I purchased about 3 weeks ago called NARS Sheer Glow, look at me introducing it as if you guys haven't already heard about it.
Well here is the story. I was using Maybelline Fit Me in the shade 110, which I think is the second lightest shade, all was well and I really liked the coverage and the dewy effect that it gave my skin. But I really wanted to splurge on a new foundation, mostly because I was finished with my foundation and also because it was really on my list of things to do. So I went to Sephora with the budget of about 30ish dollars to spend on a good foundation.
I ended up walking out of there was a 42$ foundation, but I was excited because it was matte, and because it was by NARS, and I hadn't gotten around to trying any NARS products yet. She matched me to the shade 'deauville', which I believe is the second lightest shade. She said I could go with either the lightest or the second lightest. But she suggested the second lightest because it contained yellow tones like my neck and would cancel out any pinks and red tones that are in my face.
I was really on edge about this foundation because I didn't know how much I liked it at first, because I am used to more of a full coverage and a dewey finish. Where this foundation is sheer and matte, but totally build-able
I apply this foundation with a q-tip, making small dots on my face, then rubbing in with a clean finger. Then after that takes a few seconds to dry, I go in with my Q-tip again for any problem areas. I started to really fall for this foundation after the first week of use. I needed to get a higher moisturizer, but that was an issue prior to the foundation.
This past Sunday I grabbed for my Maybelline Fit Me foundation, because I wanted a dewey finish. After wearing the foundation for a day I noticed how my face looks like it falling off. I started to really appreciate NARS Sheer matte.
I also got a sample yesterday of Smashbox's foundation and figured I would try it out for a spin. I literally put it on and by the time I got to work I had to pull a makeup wipe out and wipe it off because it felt terrible on make face. It looked like I caked it on. I feel like I would have liked Smashbox's foundation before I tried NARS. But since I am now used to a sheer coverage foundation my skin was telling me "too much, no!!!!"
So overall I would really recommend NARS sheer matte foundation for anyone who wants a more sheer coverage foundation, that is build-able but will lightly even out your skin. I wouldn't highly recommend for people with dry skin, unless you are willing to add more hydration with your moisturizer, or if you are on a strict budget.
What is your go-to foundation?
