Today decided it was about time for me to go through my little collection of highlights, examine each, and come up with my top five to share with you! Though I do have quite a few highlights, I am not very often drawn to purchase one. I think that makes it even more special when I do then! Enough with the rambling! Here are my top five!
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
This one doesn't need much of an introduction. You probably own it, or have read about it a zillion times. MAC's Soft and Gentle is a cult classic in the beauty community and I fell into the trap. I find myself using this as a highlight over any other and I think one of the biggest reasons is: it's so pretty to look at. Soft and Gentle can be described as a bronzed peach. As for texture and wear: the texture is very smooth and blend-able, and it wears for about 8-10 hours on me. The best thing about this product to me is that it is a great multi-use product, I love it as an eyeshadow.
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Angelic
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Angelic
As you may know from my last post, I love Tarte. And when it comes to Angelic it is really no exception! Angelic can be easily described as a pale white gold highlight with an oh so lovely gold shimmer. I find this is a really nice highlight that though it does have that gold undertone it doesn't make me look particularly yellow-y. As for the texture and wear: Like the rest of Tarte's cheek products it is soft without being powdery and lasts about 8 hours for me. The only downfall is you could only get this "blush" in their fantastic foursome set around the holidays.
Benefit High Beam
Benefit High Beam
This is another highlight that doesn't need much of an introduction. Benefit's High Beam is of the light pink color which makes it look extremely natural on. It is easily blended and lasts about 8 hours for me. Currently I have two samples of this that you can get in a fair amount of benefit kits, I don't think I will ever buy the full size because of it being impossible to store. I use High Beam as a highlight (cheek bones, cupids bow, nose and chine), but you can also use it as a luminizer (mixed in with your foundation or moisturizer to brighten your skin).
Stila All OVer Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Kitten
Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer in Kitten
Much alike Benefit High Beam we have Stila's Kitten. Kitten is one of Stila's best selling eyeshadows and also cream shadow and is a beige-y champagne color that is very flattering for many skin tones. This is also a very blend-able highlight and lasts about 8 hours on. Also this is a luminizer which you can either mix with a moisturizer or foundation for an all over glow or use a few dots on desired highlight areas and blend out.
MAC Cream Color Base in Luna
MAC Cream Color Base in Luna
Strangely I have never heard anyone talk about this product. I purchased it on a whim almost exactly a year ago and I have not used it that much until recently. After looking into the Kardashian Highlight Technique I thought this would be the perfect "under foundation" highlight. Luna can best be described as a pure white with the slightest bit of shimmer. I find it really brightens up the areas without adding shimmer. It gives a really refined look. The texture is a dream, it is super pigmented, and it blends amazingly. Under my foundation it seems to hold up about 10 hours for me. The best thing about this products is you can use it just about anywhere, it works great as an eyeshadow base and you could even do it on your lips!
I would love to know what your favorite highlighting products are!

  1. I really want to try benefit high beam and mac skin finish in soft and gentle, I have no good highlighters! The only ones I have are ridiculously packed with shimmers and blend out to virtually nothing :(

  21. Awesome post! Thanks for showcasing these puppies! The only one of these I've used is High Beam. I recently got the MAC Pearlmatte face powder in Flatter Me and it's a really pretty highlight powder. I also like MAC Lustre Drops; I use Pink Rebel whenever I need a liquid highlighter. :)
